Holiday Hosting Like a Pro From Top Chefs And Wine Connoisseurs
he holiday season is here and everyone is looking to uplevel how they host this season. Last weekend I had the honor of meeting and interviewing some of the top chefs and wine connoisseurs while hosting our Aphrodite Code Food and Wine Festival at the beautiful Cap Maison Luxury Resort & Spa. So, these are the top tips and tricks to show up like a pro in the kitchen this holiday season.
Signature Tip From Chef Caig Jones
A signature tip from Chef Craig Jones that you can add to your holidays is to add blended seasoning to your chicken or fish. Blended seasoning can be a mix of spring onions, garlic, bell peppers, thyme, Chandon beni, celery basil, salt, blend it down to a nice smooth paste, season the meat with it and leave it over night.
You can add this to your chicken or fish, whichever you prefer. This seasoning will add the perfect touch of flavor and exquisite cuisine to your Christmas dish.
“Never Cook In a Bad Mood” -Chef Orlando Satchell
The first rule of Orlando’s kitchen is never cook in a bad mood. Many of us eat food because it is essential, but the cuisine is a spiritual share between friends and family. When you share cuisine you share an experience. Your mood has to dictate that.
Another amazing tip from Chef Orlando is: Depending where you are in the world, if you can’t get plantain, you can cut zucchini into small pieces using a melon baller, season it, and grill it. This can be used as an addition to shrimp or chicken.
The favourite Christmas soup of chef Orlando is pumpkin, turmeric, and carrot.
A piece of wisdom that Chef Orlando shared with us is that whatever you cook around Christmas, it is about sharing and spending time with your loved ones. No matter what you make your loved ones will love it, because it comes from you.
Show Up As a Wine Connoisseur To Your Guests
A way to show up as a connoisseur to your guests during the holiday season is to always go with Rose. Rose is a type of wine that goes with beef, turkey, or ham. With Rose you are doing a balancing act. A beautiful rose that Harvey Setterfield recommends is rose Malbec from Argentina, or a rose champagne.
GM of Cap Maison, Ross Stevenson, shared with us the secret to wines during the Christmas day. The secret is Pedro Ximénez sherry wine, as it reinforces every Christmas dish. If you want to impress your friends and family during the holiday season open a bottle of Pedro Ximenes
